“Origami” becomes the first Japanese film to win at the 51st Student Academy Awards

Origami, a CGI-animated graduation project from Digital Hollywood University, received the Silver Medal in the Animation category at the 51st Student Academy Awards hosted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences—marking the first time a Japanese work has been honored at the event.

Established in 1972, the Student Academy Awards highlight emerging global talent, with past recipients including Robert Zemeckis, Pete Docter, and Spike Lee. This year, a record 2,683 submissions from 738 schools were reviewed, and twelve works across four categories were selected by Academy members.

The medal placements were announced live at the ceremony, held at ODEON Luxe Leicester Square in London. All awarded films qualify for consideration in the 97th Academy Awards Short Film categories.

『Origami』 第51回学生アカデミー賞アニメーション部門銀賞を受賞（日本作品初）

デジタルハリウッド大学の卒業制作として制作したフルCGアニメーション作品『Origami』が、米国映画芸術科学アカデミー主催の第51回学生アカデミー賞アニメーション部門で銀賞を受賞しました。日本作品として初の受賞となります。

学生アカデミー賞は1972年に創設され、新進気鋭の才能を紹介する場として知られ、過去にはロバート・ゼメキス、ピート・ドクター、スパイク・リーらも受賞しています。今年は738校から2,683作品が応募され、アカデミー会員により4部門で計12作品が選出されました。授賞式はアカデミーのグローバル化に伴い、創設以来開催されてきたカリフォルニアの Samuel Goldwyn Theater から開催場所を移し、10月14日にロンドンの ODEON Luxe Leicester Square で行われました。受賞作品はすべて、第97回アカデミー賞の短編映画部門の選考対象となります。
